Description:

We will start with normal alphabets and then squish and stretch them in different ways to create new misshapen letterfoms. These new shapes from your imagination can make a statement by themself or can be the center point of a calligraphy piece.

Materials List:
  • Pencils H, 2H, HB (or similar selection), most of our work will be in pencils, so they are important.
  • 1 or 2 fine point markers (like Prismacolor 005 or Micron 005), can be coloured if you like.
  • Pencil sharpener and eraser, also very important.
  • Paper, something with some tooth (like Stratmore 300 Drawing Paper or Strathmore Charcoal Paper)
Optional
  • A few coloured pencils, just to add some colour, if you wish
  • Pointed pen with associated stuff, I will do a quick demo on this last thing in the afternoon, so we may not get to this.
  • Ruler, I rarely use a ruler doing these scripts because they tend to keep you in the lines and I want to break out of them.
  • Bag lunch
  • Cup for coffee or tea

Don't go out and buy a lot of new stuff, I will have extra.
