Description:

Learn 4 traditional Mediaeval styles of Decorated initials: diapered, open vine, white vine and filigree. On one style, we will use 23k gold leaf.

Learn to paint with gouache, some colour theory will be included.

The following materials will be provided to you as part of your materials fee:

  • Gouache paint
  • One small brush
  • Pigma micron pen
  • Gold leaf and other gilding materials
  • Tracing paper
  • Arches 140 lb hot press watercolour paper
Materials List:

You must bring the following tools with you:

  • Pencil
  • Paper for notes
  • Eraser
  • 12” ruler
  • Water jar for cleaning brushes
  • Any (one or two) small (#1 or #2) watercolour brushes with good points that you have—one will be provided—and small not good small brushes for mixing paints
  • A rag or paper towels for wiping brushes
