Meeting: Calligraphy & Art of the Heart: Finding Passion in a Letter
- Event Date:
- –
- Presenter:
- Heather Mallett
- Description:
Our annual Saturday afternoon get-together features an interactive program with founding member Heather Mallett. Heather has offered a list of things she suggests you may want to bring:
- Five sheets 8½ x 11" photocopy paper
- Coloured pencils, oil pastels, chalk pastels: anything you have that makes large coloured marks on large paper (not wet).
- A few of your favourite writing tools—pointed or flat—markers of any kind. Pigma pens, and Zig or Itoya Calligraphy felt “pens” are her favourites. Heather also suggests Sharpie Poster Paint water based opaque paint markers
- A couple of pieces of decent paper (Strathmore drawing, Fabriano or other drawing paper) if you dislike working on photocopy paper—9 x 12" or larger—not too small
-
Gallery Challenge Words:
An abecedarium of calligraphy words wend their way from Eh to Zed ! The words of the month are your launch pad.
Beginners (or if you just don’t have time): write one or more words of the month.
Beyond beginners: Write the words in a sentence or poem, using a calligraphic hand that evokes the words or a style that suits the month’s program. You could also start a small journal in which to write your gallery work each month.
