Description:

This Brush Romans course is designed for calligraphers of all levels including beginners. The Roman script, the most successful western script, is based on the Trajan Column in Rome and remains relevant today after 2000 years of adapting. This script is the basis of all capitals used in calligraphy and topography. The course will start with the letter forms and then introduce the flat brush to make them. After gaining skill with the brush, we will complete the course by exploring some contemporary variations.

Materials List:

For the first night, all we will require is some sharp pencils and drawing paper. A ruler, eraser and a sharpener will help. I will discuss brushes available in the Ottawa area which will be used in lesson 2 forward.
