Meeting: Calligraphy & Quotations
- Event Date:
- –
- Presenter:
- CSO Members
- Description:
Join the annual Swap Quote, followed by the presentation of this year’s John Whitehead Award.
In our annual Swap Quote each June, CSO members interpret a single text in their very best calligraphic style.
For your swap quote, you can write all or part of the quote, in the original English or the French translation. Bring your work to this meeting, and you will take home another member’s rendition.
We also invite members to bring treats and snacks to enjoy at this social occasion.
This year’s quote is:
I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.
—John BurroughsJe continue à trouver que chaque jour est trop court pour toutes les pensées auxquelles je veux réfléchir, pour toutes les promenades que je veux faire, pour tous les livres que je veux lire et pour tous les amis que je veux voir.
—John Burroughs-
Gallery Challenge Words:
An abecedarium of calligraphy words wend their way from Eh to Zed ! The words of the month are your launch pad.
Beginners (or if you just don’t have time): write one or more words of the month.
Beyond beginners: Write the words in a sentence or poem, using a calligraphic hand that evokes the words or a style that suits the month’s program. You could also start a small journal in which to write your gallery work each month.
No gallery this meeting; gallery words will be June 8
