Description:

The Calligraphy Society of Ottawa is offering a Pointed Pen Contemporary Calligraphy course for both beginners and those wishing to improve. The course will be on Tuesday nights starting March 14 to April 18, 2023, at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre (Studio 1) on 1701 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1P 1J1. The course will include use of pen and ink, complete script and basic layout to complete a project. Although the course is designed for beginners, it will be a benefit to any calligrapher wanting to get back into the craft after Covid. Course Instructor The Instructor, Rick Draffin has been studying and practicing calligraphy for over 40 years. Since completing his formal calligraphy training from the UK, he has continued to study with international level instructors at conferences and retreats. He is a versatile instructor who has the depth of knowledge to guide any student to the next level. At present, he is a contract calligrapher for the Government of Canada and practices his own lettering daily.

Materials List:

The only materials required for the first class will be a sharpened pencil. There will be a full discussion at the first class on other supplies required for the rest of the course.
